How to use

Morning (01) Mask to Foam, worked into a dense foam. Rinse. (02) Cream, pressed into damp skin. Face, then neck.

Evening (01) Remover first, if you wore makeup or sunscreen. (02) Mask to Foam. Three to five minutes as a mask, or straight to foam. (03) Cream, pressed into damp skin. Another layer if skin feels dry.

In the morning, a sunscreen goes on last. If your skin is easily bothered, patch test first and use the cleanser as a foam until you know how it suits you.

Why together

A cleanser that strips leaves skin tight, and whatever goes on next is answering that. Here there is nothing to answer. Skin is left at its own pH, so the cream holds moisture rather than replacing it. Two steps, and neither works against the other.

The germ holds two-thirds of the nutrition in a grain of rice, and the bran, where our extract comes from, almost another third. White rice is what is left over, about five per cent.

From Gochang in Korea

The whole county of Gochang is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, and that is where our rice ferment comes from. Sanghwang mushroom grown on brown rice sprouted in mineral water, then fermented and filtered through cloth.

What the bacteria leave behind

Lactobacillus does the fermenting and is then removed; a lysate is what stays, and unlike a live culture it keeps. Skin carries bacteria of its own, and this is here with that in mind.

Older than any ingredient list

Migamsu, the water left from washing rice, has been used on the face in Korea for centuries. Ours is drawn from the bran itself, and it carries vitamins B1, A and E.

Is a set cheaper than buying the products on their own?

Yes, though not by much. We do not run discounts, sales or seasonal offers, so a set is not a promotion and the price will not move later in the year. It is simply what the combination costs.

Which set should I start with?

It depends on what you already have, and there is no single right answer. The Essential is the shortest complete routine. The Layers is for skin that wants more hydration. The Daytime covers the morning, protection included. The Routine is all four steps. If you would rather not choose, the skin test takes a few minutes and will point you to one.

Do I have to use everything in the set, every time?

No. The products are put together because they work well in sequence, not because any one of them depends on the others. Use one on its own whenever that is what your skin wants.

Can I use these alongside products I already have?

Yes. If you use a retinoid or an acid, it goes on after the essence has settled. If there is a step you are already happy with, keep it. Nothing here needs the rest of the routine in order to work.

What if one of the products does not suit me?

You have 14 days from the day it arrives to send unopened items back. Anything already opened cannot be returned, so if you are unsure about one step, it is worth trying that one on its own first. Write to us either way and we will help you work out what to do.
